Kindergarten

My youngest sister, Carson started Kindergarten today. I went over to her house this morning to wish her luck. She looked cute and was all ready to go. But, when we opened up her school bag (which is another story in itself) we found the house phone- not a cordless house phone but one of those big ones. She explained that she was going to set it up on her desk. It was quite funny, but she had to leave the phone at home.

I also decided to greet her at the bus stop this afternoon, on her way home from her first day. She was so excited and so adorable. She couldn't wait to tell me all about her first day of school.

I decided to bring a cake and a little gift to the bus stop as well. As we were walking back home, she was holding the cake and she said, "You only get cakes when you do great... I did a great job at kindergarten, I am so proud of myself today."

Another notable mention as far as Carson's first day of school is concerned is the girl's backpack. It is a purple My Little Pony bag and it has a picture of a couple of the horses, but coming out of the horses is "horse hair" this is three dimensional. It is quite an interesting back-pack. Carson was brushing the horses tail before school this moring. I took a couple of pictures of her 1st day with the backpack and all. I will have to post them as soon as I get them on the computer.

I was driving to work this morning listenting to the 90's channel on XM radio as I so often do. The station was playing what I like to call a little "dancemania" segue. Normally you just sort of tap your feet and nod your head to songs from great artists like Real McCoy and La Bouche. It was until the third "dancemania" song came on that I decided to listen to the lyrics. The song was Snap's Rhythm is a Dancer. I was astounded to find how truthful the lyrics to this song are. The first line itself if purely amazing.... "Rhythm is dancer, its a souls companion, you can feel it everywhere".
Now, as for myself, being a member of an elitist dance company- I am used to deciphering meaning in a song, but the meaning in this song sends chills right up your spine.

Mind you, as you read the lyrics go ahead and express your very own rhythm.

LYRICS: RHYTHM IS A DANCER

Rhythm is a dancer
its a soul's companion
you can feel it everywhere
lift your hands and voices
free your mind and join us
you can feel it in the air

oh its a passion
oh you can feel it
oh its a passion
oh oh oh

Rhythm.. you can feel it people feel it
Rhythm..
Rhythm is a dancer

Rap portion:

Check this out
Let the Rhythm ride you guide you sneak inside you
Set your mind to move
to this pulsation
bass vibration
sense sensation
far is not implicit
mind and body must be free too

please take it all the way
Nothing to lose
everything to wreck
Let it contol you
hold you
mold you
not the old the new
Touch it, Touch it
Free your soul
Let it invade you
be what you want to
if the groove don't get you the rhyme is going to
I'm serious as cancer when i say
RHYTHM IS A DANCER

Throwing up

I find I now have to eat every two and a half hours or I am really in for it. I start to feel like I am either going to faint or throw up. The bad part is, after I do eat I throw up anyway, so it is a lose-lose situation. I can't eat just anything either. It has to be a half a bagel with peanut butter on it, a peach, a cup of pineapple, or canned pears. And not all together, just one little snack at a time. Every once in a while I am able to stomach a yogurt. I see people all around enjoying meal times, oh how I wish I could do the same.
This is us at the Fair- Me, Michael (pooring water on Matt)
Drew, Brooke and Jill.

I was suckered in to going to the Iowa State Fair by Michael on Saturday night with a couple of our friends. Michael had been talking about the fair since June so I figured I could tough it out. I had been having a O.K. afternoon so I gave it a go. WRONG DECISION. Those smells were too much- way too much, the walking was too much, and then when I did get hungry (that need to eat now hunger) the one thing I thought I could stomach, which was a baked potato was SOLD OUT. I did manage to make do with a pretzel and it made me feel better for about an hour. After that hour the rest of the night was awful. I didn't sleep a wink on Saturday night and I had a horrible day all day Sunday and Sunday night. What I am trying to say is that I will never go to the fair again, no matter how many times Michael begs me this year. If he wants to experience the Iowa State Fair with me he will just have to be content in seeing it in all its glory on Iowa Public Television. So that is what we did last night, we watched the fair on IPTV.

On another note, I am going to be 14 weeks tomorrow so the end of the sickness should at least be in sight by now. My mom was extremely sick when she was pregnant until about 16 weeks she said.

We are having a Niece!

We found out a few days ago that Rachel's baby, due January 19th, is a GIRL!!! I think she should name her Emma, since her name is Rachel (you know, like friends). If only Bryce's name was Ross.

LAGUNA BEACH

I turned on the MTV this Saturday morning only to find the face of Lo, from Laguna Beach season 1 on the screen. I was delighted! It looks like not only does Season 3 of Laguna Beach start in just days, but MTV has decided to take us down memory lane, back to the first season of L.B. I couldn't have asked for a better Saturday of T.V. Thank you, MTV. I am quite certain I would never watch anything except Jeopardy if it weren't for you.

Here is a great Season one quote:

LO: I think you guys are gonna get married

LC: I think we are gonna be best friends.

LO: That stuff happens though, you know.

LC: I dont want to marry Stephen.

LO: Why not, he is cute, you would have pretty babies.

Jen: YOu would have pretty babies. Your babies would be like the popular people at school.

LC: That's sweet.

T.J. MAXX SALE

I went to T.J. Maxx today while I was waiting for Tires Plus to fix my tire. I had gotten a flat because of all of the construction in our neighborhood. T.J. Maxx is moving and I hit the store at the right time, because they were having a GIANT SALE. It was wonderful! I could have purchased so much, but had to refrain. They just have the neatest home decorations there. I don't know for sure when T.J. is moving, but I do know he is moving closer to our house and I am happy about that!

THE BABY IS GROWING SO MUCH!

We had another Ultrasound this morning. The baby is now almost 3 inches long which means it has nearly doubled in 11 days! Baby is now so big that we can't look at its entire body at once with the transvaginal probe u/s. Which surprised the Dr. He said he would use the transabdominal ultrasound next time and he would have this time but it was in use. Instead we had to look at body parts separately. They moved the due date up a couple of days, but said it probably doesn't make much of a difference. I was so surprised to see not only that the arms and legs had gotten so long, but that we could now see hands and feet! Everything seems to be right on target with my "What to Expect" and "Pregnancy Weekly" books.

This time, a lot like the last ultra sound, he/she was moving all around... kicking its legs, flipping from front to back...EVERYTHING. I dont think it is going to be the type of child that likes to sit still and read a book. The baby would also suck its thumb and then pull it out and put it back in over and over again--so precious!

It was sad that I had to go to the appointment without Michael, but nonetheless, we have pictures from the sonogram. Although, the pictures aren't that clear because the little guy was moving around so much.

Again, the appointment was very reassuring. The baby is growing very well and right on target and Dr. Paulsen was confident that the rate of miscarriage is very miniscule, less than 1%, unless I were to fall out of a tree. So I think I'll refrain from tree climbing for a while.

We have another appointment on September 8th and then we find out the sex of the baby on September 22!!! CANT WAIT!!!

P.S. sonogram pictures will be posted soon, but they arent that great of pictures because the baby was moving so it was hard to freeze the frame with out it getting blurry, plus the doctor gave us only pictures of different parts of the body.

Is Summer Over Yet?

Normally I am not one to wish for the end of Summer. Typically it is my FAVORITE season. But this summer has been quite challenging with the morning sickness. I have spent little time laying out by the pool, little time having fun with flip flops and cute summer outfits and even less time doing what I love most...RUNNING. I haven't gone for a run in months. It is a little depressing. I am ready for fall! It wont be too hot for me to go outside anymore and I wont be sick either! Just a couple more months!
